The Euro tax bit accomplishes something, look at their cars. How many land-yachts do you see rolling about over there?

That said, we do have a gas tax, but as mentioned earlier - it's obscured by the price of oil to the point we no longer feel it. Perhaps we should bring back the sting. Before doing that, I'd say to lean out and make DPW a hell of a lot more efficient at doing their jobs, before giving them any more $.

I think it was Japan that taxed cars based on the engine displacement - I believe that would be worth considering here. For anyone who "needs" a big engine - and 98% of you who claim you do - actually do not. But for those who insist - should have a commercial-type registration. (like we currently do with large work vehicles) That said - we were lax, stupid or I don't know what - but allowed 4 ton vehicles to be called passenger cars, and now every 90 pound soccer mom drives a Superduty pickup because it makes them feel safe...

Apple hasn't dipped its toe in the ruggedized computer business, has it? That's bound to be one aspect of army interest.

But perhaps computing devices that survive going to school with students should already be considered ruggedized.

The Army is already using iPod Touches in the field. Put one in an Otterbox case and it's ruggedized.

In CT we are taxed I believe 50 cents on every gallon. The problem is that as gas prices rise people buy less of it and the taxes dry up.

3.003.50 USD per gallon (only in taxes!) would be more appropriate, don't you think? :D

No-one's going to tell me that petrol is expensive in the U.S.

4" screen in 16:9 format would be nice. I don't find 3.5" too big.

This would indeed be a welcomed improvement however I highly doubt that there's much truth to these claims.

I would really, really love to have this. However, I have so little time for gaming right now I can't even complete the games I have for the Wii / DS (at least 4 games back log for both of them), so I don't know if I can justify an entire new system. On top of that money is insanely tight right now, as I'm trying to do uni in another country and we have no grant money right now and I'm not allowed to work here. Which is annoying b/c it looks so good. Ugh, guess I'll just stop by a store to drool over it once a month or so.

I envy those that will have MarioKart on this, along with all the other games that I'm sure will be great.

It's even more strange that all of them seemed to become louder after the update. How lucky for Apple that all the reviews mentioning the Intel-Macs' exceptional silentness had already been written by then, eh? ;-)

No, there can't possibly be a scheme behind this, no, no... Apple would never do this!

There has been several posts from people saying that there was no change in how loud there Mac was AFTER the update. Why would you want to spread a misperception other than to feed your paranoid conspiracy theories?

Wouldn't using the "extra" electricity to power fans to decrease heat lead to less "extra" electricity???? I hope they really think this through - and I'm sure they will. Of course powering fans isn't the only use for electricity.

I think that maybe you could think of this as something that harnesses the heat and slows the power drain from the battery for the same amount of heat produced by the cpu.

Of course they could use the extra power to provide a little more cooling to the chip, but only enough not to take the thermal difference (which generates the power in the first place) away. Now that makes it a lot clearer dosn't it!

Another cool idea would be to use one of those microscopic steam turbines. Steam turbines would remove heat and create power at the same time.... or was that some dream I had.

Don't think I fit in either camp - buy clothes at tesco, happily eat tuna or smoked salmon (so not a vegetarian, and prefer sirloin steak anyway), like red wine, drink irn bru, single malt, don't like hummos and don't care where films are made as long as they are good. And don't ride a Harley or a scooter, but would like a Triumph.

The whole thing is pathetic. From the Democrats inability to pass a 2010 budget, to the Republican obstruction and the Tea Party wackos who have co-opted the party who don't understand the concept of compromise. History will be very unkind to late 20th -early 21st century America.

Got my copy of Leopard and t-shirt! Start queuing about half four, maybe a little after.

I didn't expect that amount of people I mean, I figured there'd be a lot of people, but :D. Also, congrats to the Apple store security people for blocking off the fools who started their own alternate queue from the opposite side of the store entrance. The organisation was crappy though. I don't know how many t-shirts there really were, but if anyone from Apple is reading this, next time someone should probably walk down the queue while it's not frantic and hand out numbered tickets for people to show as they go in.

I can't wait to get home and install it though! The front is so shiny :O

It's only been a bit of fun, but the homeless charity Shelter have received a large slice of cash in the process (http://www.justgiving.com/ratm4xmas) and are due to get more from RATM themselves.

This makes it all worthwhile in my opinion. A merry xmas indeed.

sorry, but I will never put a case on my iPhone. It was made to look sexy as it is, naked.

    Cases just ruin it.

I put a case on mine to hide the fugly. Sorry, but the iPhone 4 is anything but good looking.

Kodak, just admit that you royally screwed up and missed the boat when the world went digital, don't try to suck money from the winners by suing them. Why not get the money from customers instead by making products that people actually want to buy.

As the saying goes at Apple: "If you can't beat'em, dual'em"

I say whatever it takes to keep up. Doesn't bother me that there are two CPU's under the hood. Anyways I am sure that OS X is way more optimized for dual Processors than Windows 2000 or XP. Having OS X far outways the slight difference in hardware performance. OS X is specifically designed for Macs, and optimized to take full advantage of the hardware. No one that has a Dell, Compaq, Gateway...etc... can say the same thing about Windows. The only way that would happen is if Microsoft came out with a special Intel version of Windows or AMD version. Never gonna happen. I know most of you already know this but I just thought I'd throw it out there again.

I dont understand why MS would put a huge vent on top of the unit. Dust will clog the fans like crazy, and with the 360's horrid stability record i would be very nervous laying it down flat on my shelf.
There are huge grilles on both the top and bottom, and on the side. Obviously, everyone knows that heat is the main issue for the original 360's problems, so MS seems to be doing everything they can to ensure that air can get in, no matter which way it is laying. Time will tell how well it works.
What the heck are all of the USB ports for?
It does seem superfluous to have 3 ports now that wifi is (finally) built in and Kinect has its own port.
Well, they got rid of the slots for their older Memory Units, so I'm guessing the plethora of USB ports are to make up for that. Now that you can use regular USB drives for that purpose, they need to make sure you can have a couple plugged in at once, along with any other accessories you might need (guitars, wheels, etc).
